We all know about the critical need for full power on take-off. The same is true in launching a national educational campaign such as GA Serves America. I am thrilled to report that AOPA members, GA companies and major allied associations have provided full power to launch GA Serves America – and in two short months, we have already had an effect.
- We’ve beaten back user fees again in the House Version of the 2010 FAA Reauthorization Bill, and will continue to fight them wherever they next appear.
- 60 Members of Congress saw our resolve and created the first-ever General Aviation Caucus to represent the interests of pilots, companies and communities that rely on General Aviation for health, safety and their economic life blood.
- Jim Coyne and our friends at the National Air Transport Association (NATA) have stepped up to join the GA Serves America and grow this campaign through their members all over America. Thank you, Jim!
Again, thanks to you and the AOPA community, we are all systems go, and there is much to be done in the months ahead to defend your freedom to fly. But for now, as we approach the 4th of July, I encourage you to celebrate your freedom to fly – by flying. Take a friend to the skies – and share the freedom of flying – that we all know and love.
Craig Fuller, President and CEO, AOPA
