GA Serves America:
Growing into a National Movement

When we launched GA Serves America, we really didn’t know what the response would be. A program of this magnitude for General Aviation had never been attempted before. We only knew it had to be done – to preserve our freedom to fly.

Well the response has been phenomenal! You, the members of AOPA, have really engaged – 415,000 strong. Then came our partners:

  • NATA – the National Air Transportation Association will extend GA Serves America’s reach to communities through its FBO members, and has even started its own NATA-GA Serves America website!
  • EAA – the Experimental Aircraft Association will reach into hundreds of other communities through its local chapters.
  • Women in Aviation – will extend GA Serves America’s reach into a GA category where growth potential is huge.
  • Harrison Ford – has pledged his continued leadership and star-power. He is one of General Aviation’s best friends and has committed to serve as our spokesman. And he draws attention wherever he goes and to whatever he says.

Finally I’ve saved the best news until last. A huge new ally has blossomed on Capitol Hill – the new General Aviation Caucus. Nothing succeeds like success. Members of Congress saw your resolve and the resolve of our partners, and joined together to support GA and learn more about how GA Serves America.

We are becoming a movement – and we’ll need all the horsepower we can muster to address what we fear will be new taxes, user fees and restrictions in next year’s Administration budget.

Thanks for all you’re doing. And let’s keep the GA Serves America movement growing.
